Gunpyre

After Samuel woke up from a terrible headache he found himself in a cell. After surviving an attack by some ghouls he finds two vampires transformed into guns. Form an alliance with the gunpyres and use your own or your enemies' blood to defeat the dark lord of the dungeon.

This is my latest annual project for AIV. I joined the development team about halfway through its actual core production and together with, its two other level designers, I got to work on it. With a steady learning of their design methods, deadlines and workflow, I managed to settle in the team perfectly

Gunpyre is a third-person isometric roguelike with twin stick shooting mechanics that focuses on killing enemies with executions, in order to smoothly progress within the dungeon. To follow this design idea I had to create layouts, implement them in Unreal Engine in the form of blockouts and then iterate them, in order to adress the proper gameplay loop and desired aesthetics.

After the enviroment artists created the modules for the levels I placed walls, floors and lighting asking alway for feedbacks to my team. After many iterations we finally found the one that respected the mood, the pillars and the aesthetics.
